Amboseli, land of the giants.
After a early rise and a 35 mn flight to Amboseli, you will set for your first game drive as the Amboseli airstrip is in the park, a 40 minute drive away from Tawi lodge.
The first giant you will notice is Kilimanjaro. Africa’s highest free standing mountain will be very present during your stay as Tawi lodge is built at its foot. You will see it from every individual cottage, the dining hall, all our bars, the pool, the spa and even your bathtub.
Then the other giants, elephants. Tons of them, literally. This is what Amboseli is renowned for. And Tawi’s waterhole, visible also from nearly everywhere in the camp, seems to attract them.
Refresh and relax from the trips’ overwhelming emotions with a three course lunch at the lodge. Once re-energized it’s your choice for the rest of the afternoon. By the pool? At the spa for a massage? At one of our two bars?
Make sure you relax before the late afternoon nature walk with our Maasai guides sharing their wealth of knowledge and perhaps also a sundowner –drinks and hors-d’oeuvres in the wild- at the foot of the Kili.
Gourmet set dinner, accompanied if you wish by a fine wine from our well stocked cellar.
A great night in your luxury bungalow will have you fresh for the next morning’s game drive with elephant, cheetah, gerenuk, giraffe, buffalo, kudus, wilderbeest, lions, 400+ bird species and so much more to see.
Tawi lodge, the conservancy and Amboseli national park’s ecosystem will enchant you. That’s a garantee.
On your 4th day, last quick game drive to the airstrip and en route to:
Maasai Mara reserve after an early flight to Nairobi and continuation to the Maasai Mara (a 1h flight from Nairobi).
Kilima camp is no doubt one of the best camps to see the Mara from. Perched at the summit and edge of the Oloololo escarpment the view is very simply breathtaking. Staring at the famous Maasai plains in front of you, the curve of the earth can be seen.
20 minutes from one of the reserve’s gates, directly overlooking the Mara triangle, boasting the highest concentration of wild life, the comfortable African inspired decoration tents will all offer you this incredible and magnificent view.
Going through the possibilities of sightings here has been documented extensively by National Geographic, BBC documentaries and the likes since as long as anyone remembers. The Mara’s curriculum reads like the glossary of the great book of African wildlife. Your game drives in our modified, open 4×4 will bring you to lions, leopards, elephants, cheetah, jacals, eagles, vultures, hyenas, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, giraffes, buffalos, waterbucks, baboons, secretary birds, crested storks, warthogs, animals and birds everywhere…
A bush breakfast packed in the vehicle is the best way to spend the full morning in the park. You will however want to get back to camp for the succulent three course meals with a view in the main lodge.
The end of afternoons can see you off to more game drives –one visit is definitely not enough to cover the wealth of wildlife- or even a horse-back ride on the escarpment with local maasai guides.
Sundowner at camp or in the bush? Massage with a view before your 5 course meal? Whatever you choose, it can be accompanied by fine wines from our cellar. You can even finish the evening by a Cuban cigar while watching the Maasai dance for and with you.
Day in day out, this is the life when you come to Tawi lodge and Kilima camp.
You can recharge your camera batteries at the camp but do make sure you bring ample storage along because every moment of this trip is worth a thousand pictures. You won’t want to miss a single moment of the safari you will be talking and remembering forever.

Amboseli National Park at the foot of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, home to a wealth of wildlife but particularly known for its elephants. Amboseli National Park forms the perfect auditorium for scenic views of Africa’s highest mountain, 5895M (19340ft) high. Nothing prepares you for the breathtaking vision of this magic monolith, which is covered by one fifth of all the ice in Africa. A large area of the park is the alluvial dried-up bed of the seasonal soda Lake Amboseli. The soda gives the park its name – Amboseli derives from the Maa for “salt dust”. During the dry season the shimmering heat creates a series of mirages over the lake basin. Most of the park is hot and dry covered with patches of semi-arid acacias and fragile savannah. However there are three large swamps in the south-east area fed by underground springs from the melt waters of Kilimanjaro that filter through its volcanic strata to appear pure and crystal clear. These springs with their papyrus sedges are the only source of permanent water and the major watering points for the park’s wildlife.
Arrive in time for lunch at Tawi Lodge, located on a private conservancy of 6,000 acres just five minutes from Kimana Gate, the eastern entrance to Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Lodge offers stylish accommodation while visiting Amboseli and also contributes in the promotion of a harmonious development for the wildlife and the Masai people along the corridor between Amboseli and the Chyulu Hills. The lodge is an eco-friendly operation, which takes maximum care of the environment and its people.
Afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge in time to freshen up for dinner. Before and after dinner, relax by the fire, or at the bush bar, and listen to the magical sounds of the African bush- all this under the spectacular African sky where the stars seem brighter than anywhere else.

Full day in Amboseli with the day’s activities planned with your guide to enable you to enjoy all the activities included in your stay, bird watching, morning, afternoon & night game drives. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at Tawi Lodge DAY 3
After breakfast you shall be transferred to the airstrip in time to connect your flight departing at 0905Hrs for Wilson where you shall connect with your onward flight departing at 1000Hrs for the world famous Masai Mara.
Masai Mara offers breathtaking views (as seen in the film “Out of Africa”, much of which was filmed here), an extraordinary density of animals including “the Big Five” (lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros) and may varieties of plains game. An impressive feature is the annual migration of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles from the plains of the Serengeti that cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Mara’s grasslands from late June, tracked by predators: lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena, and circled by vultures as their journey unfolds. Their dramatic river crossings are a reality for tourists visiting in early July-August. Apart from the seasonal migration, game viewing is excellent year round. Game includes elephant, black rhino, buffalo, plains zebra, hartebeest and big cats. The rivers are home to hippo and crocodiles. No visit to Africa is complete without a visit to the Mara.
You shall be met on arrival at 1100Hrs, at the airstrip and shall be transferred to your Camp with a short game drive en-route.
Kicheche Valley is an intimate luxury tented camp composed of only 6 tents sitting on platforms amongst the trees and rocky outcrops. With strict controls on bed and vehicle numbers in this community driven conservation area, a high quality wilderness experience is assured all year round. The camp is set on the Eastern side of the 50,000 hectare conservancy in a beautiful secluded valley dotted with Acacia trees. The location is close to both the Enniskeria river region, with its stunning granite outcrops and permanent pools popular with the resident wildlife, and the vast plains to the north hosting large numbers of plains game and containing a vital elephant corridor. The valleys to the west provide a scenic backdrop whilst game driving and are ideal for game walks.
Lunch at the Camp, followed by afternoon tea. Shortly afterwards you will set off on a late afternoon game drive till sunset. Return to camp for a hot shower, then join your hosts around the campfire for an aperitif before dining under the stars.

DAY 4, 5 & 6
You are woken up at the crack of dawn to have a cup of coffee or tea before your departure for an exciting ‘early morning’ game drive. At this early hour the predators are hunting: maybe the lion, on the kill. Go hunting with them in the crisp cool air. You return to the Camp for a hearty and large breakfast. Morning at leisure; you can spend some time relaxing. Afternoon game drive, virtually every common species of East African wildlife may be seen here including elephants, the legendary black-maned lions, leopard, cheetah, giraffes, wildebeests, buffalo, cheetah, zebras, gazelles, topi, hyena, ostrich, hippos, baboons and many others. There are more than two million animals in the Mara during the annual wildebeest migration and an extraordinary variety of birdlife is also known to the immediate area, followed by sundowners and night game drive to observe the lesser seen nocturnal species. The vehicles are fitted with a hand held filtered spotlight and resident species include aardvark, genet, bat eared fox, striped hyena, serval, honey badger, civet & Zorilla. Return to the Camp for dinner.
After dinner you can relax, unwind in the sit back & sip on your drink as you gaze at the star studded sky & listen to the chorus of sounds which makes up the famous African night. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at Kicheche Valley Camp.
Breakfast at the Camp; thereafter transfer to the airstrip in time to connect your flight departing at 1115Hrs for Kenya’s bustling city. On arrival at 1215Hrs, you shall be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, in time to connect your international flight. END OF PROGRAM!
