The Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania are Nilotic people who moved south along the Nile into East Africa in the 15th Century. Many Maasai still adopt a traditional lifestyle, herding their cattle, sheep and goats.
Many of East Africa’s wildlife sanctuaries lie within Maasailand. For centuries the Maasai and their livestock have lived side by side with the wild animals.
